#PINKDAYTOSHINE 2021 : A Summary
On OCTOBER 26 2021, #PINKDAYTOSHINE 2021 was concluded.
The PINKDAYTOSHINE photoshoot was organized over a period of 2 days in Dubai and Abu Dhabi respectively, with all Covid safety measures. This session is offered to 10 Breast Cancer warriors every year, who volunteered to be a part of PINKDAYTOSHINE shoot & share their story. This year, Nithya the founder also conducted a remote photoshoot for a participant based in Trivandrum, India , capturing images and stories in hopes to inspire women back in Kerala, India.
We are truly honored to connect with some extraordinary ladies, who chose to embrace life despite all the odds they had to face. They are truly an inspiration.
It was our pleasure to gift them a free photoshoot with makeup by professional artists, and we saw them SHINE on the inside & outside.
The 2021 shoot took place at Rotana Yas Island on the 20th October and Rove Dubai Marina on 22nd October.
The 2021 causal get-together was organized online on 26th October. Nithya opened this virtual get-together it to all people coping with breast cancer ( Breast Cancer patients, survivors and their families/care givers) not restricted by their geo-location. The virtual get-together had over 72 registrations, with participants from UAE, Germany, UK, USA and India.
Mr. Narendra Menon, GM of Nikon Middle East & Africa, officially unveiled the images of #PINKDAYTSHINE 2021 photoshoot. Having had a personal experience with Breast Cancer in his family, he shared his heart felt encouragement to the participants and breast cancer warriors present.
The PINKDAYSHINE 2021 shoot participants, who are brave warriors of breast cancer, shared their experience from the #PINKDAYTOSHINE event. Each of the 12 participants also shared their personal message to others coping with breast cancer. Their words were truly inspiring and we are proud of the positivity & resilience they carry and we applaud their strength.
Every year Nithya takes on the mission to offer more to those coping with Breast Cancer through this project. "Thanks to some of the previous years participants, Aster Dubai team and the work of the universe, this year again we had a panel of exemplary doctors addressing questions relevant to those coping with Breast Cancer or for those who have recently cleared Breast Cancer."
Nithya put together a series of questions based on her interactions with Breast Cancer warriors and on the research she conducted.
2021 causal getogether was joined by a panel of medical experts who offered insights on importance of early detection, recurrence of breast cancer, importance of oral health, caring for your skin, on the importance of self care & mental wellness , on how to cope with this medical condition. The experts also addressed the queries from the participants.

In 2020 we had over 27 applicants sign up for the 10 slots of the #PINKDAYTOSHINE shoot.
We are truly honored to connect with some extraordinary ladies, who chose to embrace life despite all the odds they had to face. They are truly an inspiration.

Amidst the pandemic , the 2020 causal getogether was organized online. Being a virtual get-together Nithya opened it to all people ( Breast Cancer patients, survivors and their families) not restricted by their geo-location. The virtual get-together had over 180 registrations, with participants from UAE, Germany, Canada, USA and India.
The official unveiling of images & stories from #PINKDAYTSHINE 2020 by the GM of Nikon MEA took place during the session. We listened to the inspiring stories by some brave survivors & those currently fighting breast cancer. Each of whom came forward to help others battling Breast Cancer and also reach out to their families. Few of our gift sponsors joined to share their positive wishes to the Breast Cancer warriors and also shared their personal experience of a dear family member battling breast cancer.
Apart from the experience of Breast Cancer warriors connecting & sharing their story, Nithya wished to offer them more through PINKDAYTOSHINE2020.

#PINKDAYTOSHINE 2019 : Summary
On OCTOBER 26 2019, we concluded our first official #PINKDAYTOSHINE photoshoot and casual get-together.
The event took place at Rove Dubai Marina.
Nithya was humbled by the support and enthusiasm extended to this project. She was truly honored to to organize the 1st #pinkdaytishine photoshoot in Dubai and connect with some extraordinary ladies, who never let breast cancer dullen the spirits. Nithya hopes that their inspiring stories might catapult someone currently going to Breast Cancer out of a difficult time.
The PINKDAYTOSHINE photoshoot was organized along with the support of some compassionate brands in the region, who offered services or products to make it a memorable experience for the attendees.
The casual get-together was exclusively open to Breast Cancer survivors and those gracefully fighting Breast Cancer. The special photoshoot was offered by Nithya Rajkumar Photography to 10 Breast Cancer warriors, who volunteered to be a part of PINKDAYTOSHINE. In 2019 we had over 30 applicants sign up for the #PINKDAYTOSHINE shoot. Through the shoot Nithya hoped to capturing their true essence & share their personal message to inspire others who are fighting their battle with Breast Cancer.
"It has been my honor to gift the ladies a special photoshoot along with makeup by professional artists. They never gave up despite the tough situations that must have unfolded in front of them. Through the portraits I hope to capture their inner light , their positivity and undeterred strength. I wish to take the power away from the Cancer and give power to the amazing individuals who truly deserve it. ", Nithya
The casual get-together saw over 30 breast cancer warriors, each of whom had their unique breast cancer journey to tell. We shared some tearful moments & some good laughs.

"Pinkdaytoshine is a day to celebrate life. I encourage the ladies to share their personal journey and share their positive message to others. I ask them about that one positive thing that they held on to, that helped them on their toughest days. For some, it was their child, for some others it was their faith, or else their sheer will to not give up. These stories would give a lot of strength to other women who are looking for something to hold on to themselves. It’s not easy to talk about the most vulnerable days of your life. Yet these women come forward in the hope of helping others.", Nithya
